Why reference number/Ref # column needs to be populated in the generic excel template while importing Bank transactions using the integration app ?


Reference number/ref #  is kind of a unique transaction number provided by most banks. This way clients can import statement file multiple times over the week / month without worrying about importing duplicates and without having to wait till the month end to import. In case you don’t have it, you can populate a random number which is unique (can have excel generate it for you). However, you may have to make sure you don’t import the same set of transactions again.
